Wicket’s Umami Shrimp is a steelhead fly born from our West Coast steelhead's tendency to eat shrimp. It’s tied with a hair wing and a spey-style hackle for maximum bugginess in the water.  Using ideas from the classic Temple Dog and Alley Shrimp style flies, this is a fly that has proven itself time and again against summer and fall fish all up and down the West Coast.  We’ve packaged that goodness into convenient fly-tying kits in four great colors!  We’ve included enough material for you to tie 10 to 12 flies, making this a great value.  You can tie them just like we do on our YouTube page or add your own twist and make the pattern your own.  These kits are great for the novice or experienced fly tier alike and are a great way to dip your toes into steelhead fly tying.  We hope you enjoy these kits and that they inspire you to tie more flies.

Ed Ward’s Wolly Ward Fly Kit

Ed Ward ties fishy flies.  They may not always be conventional, but that’s why they work so darn well!  Introducing the Wolly Ward, a fly that targets trout, bass, panfish and other like-sized fish. We’ve packaged that fishiness into convenient fly-tying kits that give you enough material for you to tie 10 to 12 flies, making this a great value.  You can tie them just like we do or add your own twist and make the pattern your own.  These kits are great for the novice or experienced fly tier alike and are a great way to dip your toes into fly tying.  We hope you enjoy these kits and that they inspire you to tie more flies. OPST heard many calls for the return of the roll-top waist pack, and we have answered them. Our sturdy waist/sling pack has a roll-top, avoiding the inevitable leakage that occurs with zippers. The side straps are adjustable so you can choose how tightly the bag is closed and make sure water stays out. The waist is fully adjustable and features a UTX buckle for added durability. A padded insert keeps your tools and boxes organized and also protects the bag from the inside. The front zippered pocket has drain holes to keep your tools and tippet from soaking for long periods. The pack can be worn with or without the removable sling, making it a perfect crossover hip pack/sling pack.

The OPST Head Wallet is the key to keeping your Commando Heads in check. With seven accordion-style pockets made out of nylon mesh, the wallet allows your Commandos to dry and keeps them free of mold. The velcro close is immune to the corrosion common in zippered sink tip wallets. And unique, staggered polyester line ID tabs allow you to sort and identify your sink tips. After struggling with soggy tippet spool labels for years, OPST realized that there was a gaping hole in the tippet spool market: waterproof labels. We set out to right this sad state of affairs. Not only are OPST's fluorocarbon spool labels waterproof, but the tippet itself is strong. How strong? Not super strong. Mega strong. What does that mean? You'll just have to try it and find out. Our fluorocarbon comes in 8, 10, 12, 16, 18 and 20 pound test and comes with convenient elastic bands to keep the tippet in check. 30 meters per spool. The diameters are:

8 pound: 0.235mm, 10 pound: 0.260mm, 12 pound: 0.285mm, 16 pound: 0.330mm, 18 pound: 0.370mm, 20 pound: 0.405mm

OPST monofilament is more abrasion resistant than other monofilaments on the market. Originally developed for tournament bass fishermen and Japanese “Iso Zuri” (Rock Fishing) fisheries where both a high abrasion resistance and a high diameter-to-strength ratio are critical to success. To achieve this, they knead microscopic silicone balls throughout the raw mono nylon before extrusion, and then finish it with a proprietary ultra-abrasion resistant silicon coating. This has allowed them to achieve a remarkable diameter-to-strength ratio and an awesome calculated stretch for superior knot strength you can see when tightening down your knots.
